Based in Dalkey in South County Dublin, I provide one-to-one teaching sessions for children and young adults with a wide range of learning needs.
My training is in Psychology (B.A. and B.Sc.), Montessori (A.M.I.), Dyslexia Tutoring (trained with The Dyslexia Association of Ireland) and course facilitating of ‘The Incredible Years’ Parenting Programme. I have been working with children and young adults for 35 years and have a particular expertise in dyslexia.
Every child is wonderfully unique and so are her/his learning needs.
Recognizing the value of a multidisciplinary approach, I work closely with parents, appreciating their unique and valuable insights, and with relevant supporting professionals (e.g. psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and class teachers) to design and implement individual teaching programmes.
Central to my approach and contributing to the success of my teaching is the value that I place on each child’s remarkable individual strengths and abilities. My expertise in creating a positive environment, where achievement is encouraged and validated, ensures that each child develops a strong sense of self-confidence.
After a teaching session, in addition to developing new learning strategies and skills, children leave with greater self-esteem and more often than not, with smiles on their faces.
